I was inspired when my mom read to me as a child, taught me to read, and encouraged I and my two brothers to read. Unfortunately, we have mental illness in our bloodline. My great-uncle and my mom were institutionalized because of it. In my 30's there were some messages or teachings I wanted to share. Plus, along the way I came to realize the difference between insanity and saneness. Mentally ill people are blocked from positively creating. So writing thrillers is my way of confirming I'm still sane. While knowing that ancestors of mine lost that wonderful state of mind late in life.

I don't have it. I do have I'd-rather be-writing-than-marketing syndrome. I call that publicity block. Luckily, GoodReads came onto the scene and makes it so much easier to interact with readers. Which isn't publicity to me. I've always enjoyed direct contact with readers. Readers always energize me. Just the opposite of writers block or publicity-block.

Well it helps to be a masochist that loves pain being inflicted on himself. Or being a hermit that hides away from people typing away about his imaginary friends and enemies.
But there are those stellar moments when a women or man has read one of my stories and I learn that my words touched their heart, or caused them to feel empathy for a character, or scared them because the story "could really happen". It's at those times that I feel Ive created the magic, just like the authors I read and admired as a kid, while I hid out from having to go home and face what I didn't want to face.

You mean when I'm not trying to get reviews and not marketing my current release. Well, at night (and often late at night) I work on The Black Camel. The 5th book in my series of contemporary thrillers. Here's the synopsis:
After numerous terrorist cells in America are captured, Al-Qaeda’s leadership resorts to hiring an always-successful political assassin, the Black Camel. The objective, once started can’t be stopped, is to force America out of the Middle East and Africa. As wide-scale attacks spread chaos across the country, independent Senator Nolen Martin forces the FBI to employ an unconventional counter-terrorism team to track down the assassin. Can FBI Special Agent Cholo Cantera and Israeli Mossad Field Officer Oasis Jazir stop the terrorist? Or will the assassin send them to their deaths and force America to surrender to Al-Qaeda’s demands?

I was watching a TV documentary about archeologists testing the Shroud of Turin that is claimed to have been wrapped around Jesus in his burial cave. And how scientific testing proved it was too young (by several centuries) to be authentic.
Then the idea came to me. "What if someone did find a relic that passed all scientific testing as authentic to the year Christ was born?" Then another questions popped into my mind. "What type of relic would have any impact on the world today?" That was the beginning of The Destiny Relic. Three years later I uploaded the contemporary thriller into GoodReads.
