Hi Mark, I just finished Red Sister, and thought it was great. It's so different from your first two trilogies, yet just as powerful and enjoyable. Arse kissing aside, I was wondering if you ever write while drunk? Do you find it helps or hinders your creative ability? Thanks! And now I'm off to read Grey Sister.
Mark Lawrence
I don't! I only drink on Friday nights and when I do I never feel the urge to write.
I know Stephen King wrote entire books while drunk. Hemmingway too I think. If I recall correctly King said he has no memory of writing Cujo because he was so drunk while writing it.
He's now a teetotaller, I believe.

I found the Red Sister at my local library on the new fiction shelf and normally I would overlook it because it was a female base character with a male writer. ( I know , bias). I took a chance and absolutely loved it! I have not read any of your other books, however I am wondering if you base your characters on your own children's personalities or see them as your own super hero's? looking forward to the next one.

Jorg is by far one of my favorite characters in the world, especially for a protagonist, he is dark and twisted like the world around him, you know he will do whatever it takes to succeed but remains a reasonably good person inside! do you a favorite character or at least which was your favorite to write?

I still need to get around to reading Book of the Ancestor(will probably wait till the series is finished because I hate the anticipation between books) and from what I've read online it's much more YA than your previous trilogies. As someone who fell in love with the darkness and violence and all around edginess of Prince of Thorns I was wondering if you were planning on returning to a more adult-oriented grimdark?
