Veronica Scott I didn't like the ending either, but for the readers to get so caught up in the story and feel so deeply for Mary, it speaks to the great writer the author is. I admit, I was let down at the end. However, it was a great book and so worth the time to read it.

Henna Bagha I hated the ending as well. It made me so disappointed in the book. The story was so engrossing and I really thought Mary would get what she deserved. But if you think about it, as it turned out, she did get what she deserved.
ryn same... we all love twists in endings but not this one man.... not this one
Hannah Dear I agree with all of these answers. It wasn't well fleshed out and was kind of jarring.
Myra Coleman The ending was an absolute letdown after such a great heart wrenching story. What was the author thinking? Is she working on a sequel?

Ranju just finished - audio- and I am stunned!! horrified, and betrayed.
Liz Jill, I completely agree with you. I SO felt for Mary and then felt completely betrayed by the revelation at the end! If I hadn't been listening on audio (which was really well done, btw), I think I would've thrown the book across the room......so disappointing....
Kitty Kolektor I think Jackson did a really good job leaving breadcrumbs through the story that you can look back at in hindsight. I feel like you are really made to care for Mary, but she always say “I didn’t mean to throw her” and “allegedly”
Kellee D. I literally threw the book across the room! I was not ready for it! It was a shocker. It was gritty and real!
