Besides the obvious answer--just WRITE--I would suggest finding a writers' group where you can share your work and get feedback. Don't be afraid to visit a couple groups before settling on one; some people may benefit from a more structured group, while others may do better with a group whose agenda is more open. If you're looking to publish, you may want to find a group with some published authors who can give you advice.
