How do you get inspired to write?

Leta P. Hawk It really depends on what I'm writing. A lot of times, inspiration comes from odd or unexpected places--a strange dream, a bit of overheard conversation, a certain smell, people watching at the mall. I'm always on the lookout for places that would make a good story setting or situations that would make an interesting plot twist. My kids love YouTube right now, and every so often they dig up an old song that sparks a memory of where I was when I first heard the song or brings up feelings or an event that is tied to hearing that song.
