Brigid Kemmerer I don't know which book you're referring to, but here are some suggested age ranges for my books:

Letters to the Lost: 10+ (Very little language or sexuality. One character finds a revealing photograph. Some heavier themes including drinking -- shown with consequences -- and suicidal thoughts, which invites counseling.)

The Elemental Series: 13+ (Lots of language, including F bombs, not much sexuality "on camera.")

Thicker than Water: 13+ (Lots of language, including F bombs, not much sexuality)

I've read the Elementals series more times than is probably healthy, in fact I'm reading it again now and I have recommended the series so many times to the point where people are telling me to be quiet! So I just wanted to ask about the steps you took in creating this story? (e.g. did you write them down, did you know exactly what you wanted the character's to experience from the very start?)
