Brigid Kemmerer Ahh! Yay! Thank you! I can tell you that YES, pretty much everyone from the Cursebreaker series makes an appearance, especially Grey and Rhen. (Since Tycho is the King's Courier, he is responsible for carrying private messages between kingdoms.)

Brigid Kemmerer Yes! They're playing King's Ransom. (I completely made it up for the series though.)
Brigid Kemmerer This means so much to me, as I LOVE Forging Silver into Stars and it's one of the books that's closest to my heart. The sequel will be out sometime after the conclusion to the Defy the Night trilogy, and we'll be able to share more information about Forging Silver and the continuation starting in early 2024, once Destroy the Day has been released.
Brigid Kemmerer I'm sorry I just saw this! And thank you! Letters to the Lost is so special to me, and is definitely the best known of my YA contemporaries. Both Letters and More Than We Can Tell are generally the same level of romance (nothing goes further than kissing, and there's no real profanity), though Call It What You Want does have a little bit of swearing and a slightly more intimate scene. (A girl's shirt comes off.)

If your students enjoy fantasy, the Cursebreaker series would also be a good start, with nothing more explicit than what you found in Letters to the Lost. The first book is A Curse So Dark and Lonely.

I also have the Defy the Night series, which is also limited on profanity and intimacy, though the royal intrigue and political issues in the series might be a little heavier for younger readers.

I hope this helps! And thank you!
Brigid Kemmerer Breathless is a novella (short story) that is basically a prequel to the full length novel Secret. If you're in Australia, Breathless is included with Secret. Elsewhere, it can be purchased as a separate e-book, or it's included with the full copy of Sacrifice (which has all three novellas at the back, both in the physical paperback, as well as in the e-book edition).

I hope this helps!!
Brigid Kemmerer Hi from Riviera Beach! If you like contemporary (realistic) YA, I would recommend starting with Letters to the Lost. If you like fantasy, you could either start with A Curse So Dark and Lonely or Defy the Night. I hope this helps! Thank you for reading!
Brigid Kemmerer Thank you! Right now I don't have any immediate plans to write any more contemporary novels, but I really do love contemporary YA, so I might write more in the future.

That said, all of my other books deal pretty heavily with contemporary themes. The Elemental series might have some paranormal abilities, but it's really about four orphaned brothers trying to survive after their parents died. The Cursebreaker series is about a girl coping with her mother's terminal illness and a boy who made some poor decisions that affected his family, and they both need to figure out how to move forward. Etc. :-)
Brigid Kemmerer Three, hopefully. Forging Silver Into Stars is planned as the first book in a trilogy.
Brigid Kemmerer He meets a character named Adam at Quinn's dance studio. (Adam doesn't appear in the series prior to Breathless.)
Brigid Kemmerer Yes! I can't reveal the release date or title yet, but there will be a third book.
Brigid Kemmerer Right now, I am working on the second book. Stay tuned for more announcements!
Brigid Kemmerer You're not late to the party! And thank you so much for the kind words! For Harper specifically, I knew that Rhen was going to be cursed by magic, but Harper would see him as privileged and not really cursed at all. Just like she says when she challenges him, he lives in a stunning castle with an endless supply of food and calls himself "cursed," but she doesn't really know the whole story. I wanted to juxtapose that a bit with Harper. I wanted her to just be a girl in a situation that Rhen would see as a challenge or a "curse," but for Harper, it would just be who she was. When I was growing up, I had a friend with CP, and it was something I hadn't seen in a book, so I decided to go in that direction, especially since I knew I could lean on my friend for early research, haha. From there, I had to do a ton of research and hire authenticity readers, because it was super important to me that Harper was a regular girl with CP. It means a lot to me that so very many readers from so many walks of life have identified with Harper as a character!
Brigid Kemmerer Thank you so much! I love those Merrick boys so much, and I love hearing from readers who love them too. The last book in the series was published in 2014, so as of right now, I don't have any plans to return to the series. That said, I came up with the spark of an idea to continue the series with everyone as adults, and maybe one day I'll get to write it...
Brigid Kemmerer I hope so! As of right now I don't have anything official to announce.
Brigid Kemmerer Nope! Completely made up! I'm sorry I don't have a tutorial -- the only words that "exist" are the ones in the books.
Brigid Kemmerer I don't refer to any religions in the book. I do refer to "muslin," a type of fabric, within the text.
Brigid Kemmerer Thank you! I just loved Tycho the instant I first put him on the page. He had a tragic past from even before he met Grey, and I knew the events of the Cursebreaker series (especially what happened in A Heart So Fierce and Broken) would also have a profound effect on the young man he would turn out to be. I really wanted a chance to tell his story, and I'm so glad to have the opportunity to write it.
Brigid Kemmerer I don't have Australia on my tour calendar for 2022 but hopefully in the future! I would love to visit!
