Stefani Christenot asked Jessica Khoury:

How did you get all this information on the jinni from the book The Forbidden Wish?

Jessica Khoury I researched a lot of different mythologies and beliefs, from the Quran and different beliefs among the Muslim community, to even older sources of jinn lore, like ancient Perisan Zoroastrianism. It was important to me to go beyond the caricatures we know in Western pop culture--no I Dream of Jeannie harem-pants! In most traditions, jinn are complex, beings of good and evil, not unlike humans. They are known to harm and to haunt, but also to help. Many traditions hold that they inhabit a world parallel to ours and come and go as they please. The book LEGENDS OF THE FIRE SPIRITS by Robert Lebling was very helpful in my research. But it's important to note that the jinn lore specific to THE FORBIDDEN WISH, while inspired by this lore, is unique to itself and purely fantasy.
