Jessica Khoury wrote her first book at age 4, a fan fic sequel to Syd Hoff's Danny and the Dinosaur, which she scribbled on notebook paper, stapled together, and placed on the bookshelf of her preschool classroom. Since that day, she's dreamed of being an author.

When not writing, Jess enjoys spending time with family, playing video games, and oil and watercolor painting. She is also a professional mapmaker, and spends far too much time scribbling tiny trees and mountains for fictional worlds.

Jess currently lives in Greenville, South Carolina. She is the author of the Corpus trilogy, The Forbidden Wish, Last of Her Name, and The Mystwick School of Musicraft.

Read the newspaper, read magazines, read manga--anything goes! The best way to learn to write is by reading and imitating other writers. I learned by imitating Brian Jacques and T. A. Barron when I was in middle school. Read and write a little every day, and eventually you'll discover your own unique voice.(less)

I'm so happy to hear you liked Origin! Perhaps you'd like the companion novel, Vitro, which is set in the same world and deals with another Corpus experiment--this time on a secret island in the South Pacific. The third "Corpus" book is called Kalahari, and it will be out next February.

If you would like to read other sci-fi books similar to Origin, here are some of my recommendations: The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, Unremembered by Jessica Brody, Control by Lydia Kang, and The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary Pearson.(less)
