Erica Richardson
Erica Richardson asked Jessica Khoury:

I recently listened to The Mystwick School of Magic and LOVED it. Now I'm listening to Sparrow Rising. I'm planning to read The Forbidden Wish next. What inspired you to write middle-grade books? It looks like you wrote mostly YA until somewhat recently when you started writing for younger readers!

Jessica Khoury Hi Erica! Thanks for the question! It's funny because even though I started in YA, I have always considered myself a middle-grade writer first and foremost. Probably this is because middle grade is when I really fell in love with books and writing, and my biggest influences (Brian Jacques, T. A. Barron, Susan Cooper, Jean Craighead George) wrote middle grade. It just happened that my YA got published first, but I am very happy in MG and hope to keep writing it for a long time! :)
