This question contains spoilers…
(view spoiler)[I just finished your book, Orphan Train, and truly enjoyed it. I didn't know about this bit of American history. I read the updated version where you share that you added a scene 3/4 into the book. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out which scene you added. Would you mind sharing? :) Thanks! Sorry for not responding sooner; I just discovered this page of questions. (And I'm going to repeat my answer to a similar question below.) I re-edited the entire novel and added a scene after Vivian reveals a major secret to Molly, in which Molly asks some hard questions. I felt that I hadn't adequately addressed Vivian's state of mind, and I wanted to do that. Thanks for asking -- I hope the new scene added to your enjoyment of the book.

Just a comment? Wonderful book. If it doesn't touch the reader through art, it touches one by one's attachment to their home, if not through home, it touches through family roots/birthplace, if not thru roots, it touches through lost love, and if not through love & loss, thru the human spirit and its fight to survive and thrive, and if not thru the human spirit, it touches one with Kline's linguistic skill & talent.

Is this book fiction? Did you know that the woman in the painting had Charcot Marie Tooth a neurological disease? I have it. It affects the feet and hands then the arms and legs. It is the most common inherited neurological disease in the world 1 in 2,500. It is still rare. SO many people go undiagnosed. There are quite a few people in the UK with it . There is a CMTUK facebook page I think.

I wondered if there might be a sequel since there is enough left untold for one: Did Vivi leave her property to Molly or Terry or her daughter or her nieces and nephews? Did Vivi's daughter want to meet Maisie's family? Did Molly win the prize & what did she end up going with herself? Did Dina ever get comeuppance? I get that none of those NEED answers, but there is enough for another novel? :)
