I have read this book and re-read it twice, am i missing the big twist at the end? I don't understand the ending at all or seem to be picking up on this shocking twist everybody is talking about. Its driving me crazy! Can anybody shed some light?

I was interested in reading the entire book, but it became so disjointed and difficult to follow that I was glad when it was over. I, also, was very confused by the ending. Were they both psychos? Who was doing all the stuff to Madeline? That was just insane - that relationship. I was not crazy about the book - will not plan on reading the sequel. I like books that I can figure out who is who and what is happening. The names got all mixed up and who was talking and who was writing in the diary. I thought I had missed something until I read all the entries here. (less)
