I have read this book and re-read it twice, am i missing the big twist at the end? I don't understand the ending at all or seem to be picking up on this shocking twist everybody is talking about. Its driving me crazy! Can anybody shed some light?

I approached it like a detective. there are two key pieces of info: who could know the meaning of the bracelet and who could actually have it.
for the first there are the 'sisters', the husband (if he read more then he claimed) or the ex (if he isn't dead).
for the second the list is the same give or take.
I played with the idea that the narrator was actually the other sister who assumed the identity of the other but that doesn't work (twin calling her mom for the first time). then I pondered the husband but that doesn't track either (why would he be there). or the ex. this does track, he was in the house and could have read the diaries before she showed up, as a hospital person he could have access to the room. he wouldn't know everything but he knows a lot. has to be him. it felt like a cheap ending since it was suggested strongly one of the sisters killed him using the tanning bed. but I am convinced it is the only one remotely plausible.(less)
