Ah right you are Michelle. Sorry I forgot to run through the past reads list properly. I'll have to drop it out of contention. I've double checked the rest of the nominees. Rest assured next month we'll get back to running things smoothly.
JA, Spin State is the permanent bridesmaid in one of my other groups, i'll help you lobby for it here too!
I'm also voting for Spin State, because it's been sitting in my to-read pile ever since it was published.

Frankenstein is a favorite so if that wins I can be content to reread a classic, but this time I went with Spin State as I'm ready to take a crack at some hard sci-fi.
I'm encouraging Spin State too, it suits the theme more, as I understand it. Frankenstein is horror and fantasy bordering on science or science bordering on fantasy, but is it science fiction in the classic sense? A debate we've seen before, I'm sure. Spin State takes a lot of the sameIdeas to the next level up in space, dealing when what technology can do to identity, the very sense of self. Black and white seem very clear until gray becomes the possibly necessary results, how will the heroes deal with that? Sorry, not stating this as well as I'd like, but I hope you'll read some of the reviews and get intrigued. It's just smart, complete writing.
Dawn vs. Shards of Honor, two of my favorite books by my favorite authors-- and at this point it looks like neither can win...
