It is very close so far and there are a lot of titles to choose from - please do vote if you can. The more members who vote, the more representative the winner will be.

Barbara I have a question/observation....... If the poll ended today, Mrs Dalloway would win with only 25% of the votes. That doesn't seem very representative of what our group wants to read. Perhaps if the top vote getter falls below say 33%, we should have a run-off of the top two or three books??? Looking back at polls in Bright Young Things, the winning book usually got 50% or more of the votes, occasionally as little as 35%. 25% seems pretty low to call something a winner. I realize we're voting for a book to read here, not for a powerful politician or important issue. We can choose to read or not read any book. Hardly a life-or-death choice. But still, if we want to be representative, we might aim for a bigger % of favorable votes. I voted for Mrs. Dalloway, so it's not that I would disapprove of that book winning.
Just a thought.....

I think that there are a lot of books in this poll; besides which not that many people from the group have voted. If there is a draw, then obviously we need to think of how to deal with that, but if a book wins (even by one vote) then I think it has won.

Barbara OK. Thanks, Susan.

No, thanks for your input, Barbara. We're a new group, so we're still figuring things out. I would ask that as many members as possible vote though. Even if you don't want to comment in discussions, voting is really important.

Leslie Just checking that the book I voted for, The Death of the Heart, is the actual book, not the summary & study guide which is in the poll...

Try as I might I couldn't get that to change - I selected the correct book each time but it kept showing the study guide in the poll. Weirdly it has got the correct cover underneath the poll and if you click on that you go straight to the right GoodReads page. V weird.

So please accept my apologies Leslie. I was aware of it but just couldn't get it to work properly.

Ooh, it's very close! An exciting first vote.

Leslie No need for apologies Nigeyb, I just wanted to make sure. I have found that the poll-creating software is a bit clunky myself...

A two horse race now. Both excellent choices, so I will be happy with whichever crosses the line first!
