Hmm. I've read Dead Sea. That would have been awesome as a GR. I've been meaning to read something by Jeremy Robinson and Adam Cesare. Choices, choices.

I'm really curious to see what gets selected. Somehow I'm missed any e-mails about nominating books.
Jaws is already on my summer beach reading list, so I'm voting for that one. There are probably scarier and better written books on this list, though.
hmm, wouldn't call The Beach, tho it was an interesting book. Really enjoyed Duma Key. Tried to start MEG several times, but for some reason I seem to get sidetracked every single time. I wonder if I am not meant to actually read it. I remember reading Laymon's Island a long time ago. decisions, decisions...I think I'll vote for Castaways.
From a very selfish angle - I've read Jaws and I thought the movie was better, and I've read Duma Key, so I'm hoping for something else. I voted for Summer of Nights since I enjoy Dan Simmons's other books and it is on my TBR pile.
David, SoN is in my TBR pile as well.(I have have it in paperback so naturally I have no clue WHERE it actually is, lol) Along with like 2000 other books, lol. I've actually been catching up on King books that I had started and then got sidetracked on. I finished Doctor Sleep a couple of weeks back and am restarted 11/22/63 and am a couple of hundred pages in. If I recall SoN is a hefty book, which makes me think if I were to find it and start it, I would likely get sidetracked from 11/22/63 again.
I have read a couple of the books. I recently discovered Brian Keene, so I went with Castaways. Happy voting, they all sound interesting!

I enjoyed it, but it just didn't seem to have the level of conflict that I need for a book of that size. Growing up in Dallas, I was hoping the setting would keep me going, but it did not...and I am a Stephen King fan, but 45+ hours is a significant time commitment.

I'm a huge King fan, been reading him since I was 8, but not everything he writes has been gold and he has been known to make books larger than I think they truly need to be, but only like 200 pages in and enjoying it quite a bit. I love his rules for time travel. How I will feel over the next 700 pages is anyone's guess.
Hillary wrote: "John Saul and Stephen King? How can I ever chose between them?"Not that hard for me. I used to LOVE Saul, his early stuff was tremendous, but he went downhill for me. I was hoping he'd go our on a high note but I guess it's not to be. But thinking of him, it may be time to break out The Unloved again.
I read Dead Sea during a beach vacation, must say this is the best way to enjoy it:)Went for Island by Laymon, this is my first time attempting to participate in something like this, my own TBR pile is killing me...
I got the email about this at 10;44pm and by 6am when I checked it was all ready over. So missed the vote.
I think he meant to have it end at midnight on June first. He'll likely fix it soon enough, if possible.

I just sent Jon a pm--I just got the notice, and didn't have the chance to vote.... I'm sure he'll fix it, or maybe manually add those of us that missed the 5 hour window--LOL! Jon's a good guy. :)

Voted!
Thanks Jon! I got my vote in! I went with Fangtooth even if I nominated something else. It looks likes it's just what is needed for a summer read!

I just got a copy of Fangtooth, just for fun. I'm torn between the two that were shown as neck-and-neck for the top before voting was reopened, but I'm going to read Fangtooth, and maybe the John Saul book even if they aren't chosen.
Cause it's summer. June starts tomorrow, whoo-hoo. I've got a few plane trips, so I'm going to load up the ole Kindle.
I prefer reading good old fashion print books, so I ordered a copy but I won't get it till Wednesday! My usual bookstore does not have it, so I had to go through amazon and pay $20.00 for a paperback, I hope it's worth it...
what a tough decision! I narrowed it down to 5 then to 3. I kept going back & forth but finally cast my vote.

Hi. Looks like Duma came in first, so I'll get that one, but why is there a star by In the Dark of the Night? Is that going to be a Buddy Read?
Let me know - Thanks!
Very pumped to finally read Duma Key. It has been sitting in my top of tbr pile on my desk for the last year!
Ooh, happy that 10 voted for The Beach, even though it didn't win. Please, guys, read it! And Natural Selection is a ton of fun. I started Duma Key and lost interest. But maybe I'll join in, or at least lurk in the thread to see what everyone else thinks.

Come on in, the water's fine.
Well, maybe not fine with FangTooth and Jaws hanging out in the neighborhood, but hey, it'll be fun anyway!

I'll say it took me a couple of times to of starting and stopping to get into Duma, but once I did I really like it. Currently reading 11/22/63, but when I finish I may fire up Duma again and join in, though Mr. Mercedes comes out Tuesday...decisions decisions
Well, 'twas me who originally suggested Duma Key, but since the lady feels so strongly about it, I'll put The Beach on my To-Read list. :)

And maybe I'll crack open Duma Key again and perhaps love it. There have been stories I struggled with at the beginning, but was rewarded greatly when I didn't give up (e.g., The Red Tent and A Thousand Splendid Suns).
