The Black Stallion and the Shape-Shifter (Black Stallion Returns, #3)
by
"Do not read any of the Steven Farley books. Just stop at The Black Stallion and the The Girl. I've been a fan of the original series since I was about 8 years old -- now I'm a LOT older than 8 -- and this book just sucks sweaty purple donkey balls in comparison to the original series."

Hell Hath No Curry (Pennsylvania Dutch Mystery, #15)
by
"Tamar Myers should have stopped the series at 14. Without a major character from the first 14 books, there is no real conflict. Also, Meyers seems to be just phoning this in. She and her narrator get downright nasty as opposed to funny. In the book's front matter, there is a rude note from Myers asking that fans please stop sending her title suggestions because "they're really not very funny." I stopped reading this about 50 pages in because I just couldn't be bothered. This book made me (and my mother) give up on this series."

The Shack
by
"If "The Shack" by William P. Young was a human being, it would be in desperate need of a laxative. The only literary value of this book is to show how NOT to write a book. It may also be pertinent to history classes showing what kind of books reflected the American popular taste of 2007 to 2009."

The Light-years Beneath My Feet

"I gave up at page three when I came to yet another long unpronounceable "alien" word (a long string of consonants.) I did not realize this was the second book in a series. Even so, I have interest in reading ANY of this series."

The Evolution of God
by
"Poorly organized book. There are a ton of footnotes. Some are boldfaced and underlines, which Wright explains that these footnotes MUST be read. What's the point of that? Just stick it in the damn text. The shift from large print to itty-bitty print literally gave me headaches, so I had to abandon this book after about 200 pages. Also, Wright cannot make up his mind who he's writing for -- the layperson or professional historian. What a disappointment!"

A Generous Orthodoxy: Why I am a missional, evangelical, post/protestant, liberal/conservative, biblical, charismatic/contemplative, fundamentalist/calvinist, anabaptist/anglican, incarnational, depressed-yet-hopeful, emergent, unfinished Christian

"Although considered a crucial book in the development of the emergent church, Brian McLaren’s book is filled with convoluted sentences, lack of organization and perhaps the world’s worst subtitle."

Johnny and the winged horse

Watson's Choice (Mrs. Bradley, #28)
by
"Awful book. The title makes no sense when you are finished the book. Despite the title and the cover, the book has next to nothing to do with Sherlock Holmes and/or Watson. Everyone speaks alike and takes things oh-so-stiff-upper-lip. The only likable character is the dog. I'm never reading Gladys Mitchell again."

Exit Sherlock Holmes
by
"An incredible load of crap. Only worth reading so you can see how NOT to write a Holmes pastiche. How do books this bad get published? Did no one at the publishing house realize just how ridiculously bad this manuscript was? There are better authors unheralded that self-publish."
