Rat Queens, Vol. 1: Sass & Sorcery
by
"ADULT I just got this graphic novel, and it's very reminiscent of Dungeons and Dragons type adventure with extremely interesting female characters. Highly recommended. Mature content, so best for adults.

Secret Six, Vol. 1: Unhinged
by
"ADULTThe next few on the list are a part of Gail Simone's Secret Six series (which has since passed with the new era of DC Comics), but it was one of the hidden gems of the DC Universe. a group of b-list criminals (with questionable morality and motives) try to survive in a world that's not too fond of them. It's extremely humorous and can be slightly macabre. It's not about superheroes, but you begin to really appreciate the characters. Highly recommended."

The Superior Foes of Spider-Man, Vol. 1: Getting the Band Back Together
by
"ADULT This is one of the most underrated current titles Marvel currently is running, and it is also one of the most enjoyable. This book focuses on the z-list criminals that Spider-Man fights. They band together as the Sinister Six (even though there are only 5 members), and the twists are particularly clever and interesting. It's also a graphic novel that plays with the art to fit the story. Highly recommended."

Daredevil, Volume 1
by
"ADULT/YOUNG ADULT Some of these books (by Mark Waid) are already in the system, but again, this is a highly recommended book. It takes a character (who has typically been more dark and gritty for the past few decades)and refreshes him with new stories that are entertaining and allow character growth. Mark Waid is a solid comic creator, and this is one of the best series Marvel has at the moment. This run has 7 volumes, and while this particular series/run has ended, a new one has started. Can be either a teen or adult graphic novel. "

"ADULT/YOUNG ADULT There are 4 volumes of this run, and since I have read 3 of them so far, I would highly recommend them. The stories are solid, and it really is a book that had a great deal of influence on the new movie. There are 2 complete collections coming out in August and December that also contain this run."

Fear Itself: Journey Into Mystery
by
"YOUNG ADULT: While not necessary to enjoy Young Avengers, these books are great and tell the tale of Loki (who has been reborn as a child) and his attempts to save Asgard. There's comedy, adventure, and tragedy all mixed up into these six volumes. There is also a complete collection edition (volume 1 is out currently and volume 2 is out in September) if that is a more economic decision."

"ADULT Kelly Sue DeConnick has been doing great work at Marvel, and it has definitely translated to her work at image. The story appears to be about Death's daughter, but it also explores the lives of other characters. I have only read the first issue, but it's a series that is up for an Eisner award and that is a high honor indeed. Highly recommended"
