Out of my comfort zone

I was prompted to read this after seeing it mentioned many times on BookTube. I knew this was a bit out of my normal reading (YA or fantasy), but I thought I would give it a try.

Linus is a case worker at the Department in Charge of Magical Youth. He was given an unusual task by the Extremely Upper Management to go the orphanage where there are "dangerous" children. The caretaker at the orphanage is Arthur.

A friendship develops between Arthur and Linus as well as a special

Original and unexpected, this optimistic fantasy novel is about love and acceptance. Reading like a combination of Mrs Peregrine and Harry Potter, the story contrasts between a bleak, gray, senseless existence lived by Linus (the character from Joe vs the Volcano comes to mind) and the color and diversity present in the title location - the House in the Cerulean Sea. Fun and easy read.

It focuses on a social worker for magical children whose job is to investigate orphanages to make sure that the kids are cared for, and that they are not a danger to others or themselves. The agency that he works for is very dystopian-esque in regard to their level of control and management style. The theme is heavy on how magical children/adults are treated negatively by the mainstream society - which is used to represent how other ...more

This was an incredible book. It was about acceptance, love, balancing work and life, decisions, doing what is right and finding yourself all in one. Oh and it had magical creatures. Just a wonderful read.
