Out of my comfort zone
I was prompted to read this after seeing it mentioned many times on BookTube. I knew this was a bit out of my normal reading (YA or fantasy), but I thought I would give it a try.

Original and unexpected, this optimistic fantasy novel is about love and acceptance. Reading like a combination of Mrs Peregrine and Harry Potter, the story contrasts between a bleak, gray, senseless existence lived by Linus (the character from Joe vs the Volcano comes to mind) and the color and diversity present in the title location - the House in the Cerulean Sea. Fun and easy read.

A beautifully written, descriptive, whimsical, feel-good novel. It focuses on a social worker for magical children whose job is to investigate orphanages to make sure that the kids are cared for, and that they are not a danger to others or themselves. The agency that he works for is very dystopian-esque in regard to their level of control and management style.
