Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 804 comments Checking in!

My UNO shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
# of yrs playing: I have been playing UNO in Perks of Being a Book Addict for 4 years, 3 as co-captain.
Something about me: I am a mod in two groups - AMMP and Game Night, I love animals, and I leave in the US on the Eastern Shore

Jessi (jazzykitty) | 450 comments Hello Team Forefront Panna Cotta <----- I'm having a hard time remembering our team name.

This is my second year playing Uno but my first time co-captaining.
I'm from Oklahoma and have an 8yr old who keeps me on my toes. I will read just about anything but historical fiction and romance are my LEAST favorites.

Sarah | 17 comments Hello team! I'm Sarah, one of apparently THREE of us on this team?? You can call me Sarah H. if an initial would be helpful.

My UNO shelf

Number of years playing: This is my first! I did my first few team challenges last year (The Floor is Lava and Tower Teams over at NBRC). I've seen a lot of people talk about how UNO is their favorite, though!

Something about me: I read a little bit of everything, but my favorites are fantasy, scifi, horror, and LGBT romance. My other hobbies are writing fiction, knitting, and playing tabletop and video games. Also, I've just started to try running - two weeks into Couch to 5k!

message 15: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 804 comments Welcome Sarah H. Yes I think all the Sarahs gravitated to our team!

just kat (clutteredbooks) | 344 comments Hello everyone!

I have played UNO before but skipped for 2 years (i think). I currently live in Palau, a small group of islands in the middle of the Pacific.

Uno Shelf

I read across most genres except for a few with horror topping the list. Guess I get scared easy lol. I can't even watch horror movies.

I stick with the Panna Cotta! XD

just kat (clutteredbooks) | 344 comments I have the Owlcrate edition of The Guinevere Deception (Camelot Rising, #1) by Kiersten White

Will check tineye later if it's green enough

message 19: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 804 comments Welcome Joyce.

We actually aren't using TinEye in this challenge. If the captain/co-captain feel it's green then it's green. If we aren't sure we ask in the Captain's Group to see what the general consensus is.

The book you listed looks green to me. What do you think Jessi?

We need a Green 8 and a Green 4 - which one does your book match?

message 20: by Jessi (new)

Jessi (jazzykitty) | 450 comments Welcome Sarah! As a Jessica I feel your pain that there are THREE Sarah’s on our team! That’s why I go by Jessi, have to separate myself somehow Ha!

Welcome Joyce! I probably will just go with Panna Cotta to keep things simple ;)

message 21: by Jessi (new)

Jessi (jazzykitty) | 450 comments Yes I would say that cover is green. Tin Eye is notorious for being weird about colors. Like, I wouldn’t be surprised if it says it’s blue when it clearly looks green.

message 22: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 804 comments So, I've never had Panna Cotta before so I looked up a recipe. I might try to make this during UNO as a "team spirit" thing...

Sarah Twiggs (twiggssl) | 372 comments Hello!

This is ANOTHER Sarah checking in - I am Sarah T. My last name is Twiggs, which is what most people call me. Might be easier to go that route to not get confused with others, lol.

Whatever our photo is, I want/need!

I live in Maryland, but am an Ohio girl born and raised.

This is my fourth uno challenge. It is my favorite challenge on goodreads.

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 804 comments Both or just the first book?

message 31: by Jammin Jenny (last edited Jan 21, 2020 07:30PM) (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 804 comments Okay so for those of you that are novices to this UNO game, the first thing we usually need to do is find all the color cover books that will work for our hands this month. This month we need to find 12 color cover books: 5 are duplicates of the 7 we were dealt.

So here are the books I have on my planned reading shelf that might work:

Blue 3 (H - Jane Hawk MC) or 6 (S - Title) - The Silent Corner (Jane Hawk, #1) by Dean Koontz
Green 4 (F - Author LN Fluke) - Christmas Cake Murder (Hannah Swensen #23) by Joanne Fluke
Blue 3 (H - Hannah MC) or 6 (S - Swensen MC) - Chocolate Cream Pie Murder (Hannah Swensen #24) by Joanne Fluke
Yellow 4 (F - Flavia MC) - A Red Herring Without Mustard (Flavia de Luce, #3) by Alan Bradley
Green 4 (F - Author Ferrari) - Like Flies from Afar by K. Ferrari
Blue 6 (S - Place - St. Louis) - Cerulean Sins (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #11) by Laurell K. Hamilton

If you could each take some time to look through your shelves to see what color books you could cover that would be awesome! Hopefully we will all be able to find books to cover these. Plus we'll have a mini-challenge sometime in February so we'll need to work together on that one too.

ETA: I am tracking the "sign-ups" for our special color cards in post #6.

I thought the same with the orange...but could make an argument for yellow, lol.

I’ll keep looking JIC 😊

Kristie (teewho) | 131 comments Hi everyone!

I'm Kristie and I live in Australia.
This is my second year playing and my favourite challenge!
I read pretty much everything, except for contemporary/romance, unless I have to. Fantasy is my favourite!

Jess Cattanach (jesscatt) | 116 comments Hi everyone! I'm Jess. My uno shelf is here

I've done this challenge before in 2016, and did half of 2017 before being diagnosed with cancer which forced me to drop out. Now that I'm all good and healthy again, I'm super excited to do this challenge after too long!

I'm a 27 year old Australian with a degree in biomedical science but I work in medical reception. Sci fi and horror are some of my favourites, but I read a bit of everything. I also love tea, flamingos, photography, weird fashion, and my pet rats! <3

I'll have to have a look through my books and see what I may be able to get to work for Feb's special cards. I'm doing the PopSugar and Read Harder challenges this year, so will try to draw as many books as I can from those prompts as well :)

Edit: I'll do some more research on cover colours to see what I can find. I'm easy to read basically whatever, so no doubt I'll find some to fill in the gaps :)

message 45: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 17 comments I found a couple on my list for Blue 6 if we need them:

Blue 6 - The Book of M by Peng Shepherd author surname Shepherd

Blue 6 - Stolen Magic (Guardians, #2) by M.J. Putney title Stolen Magic

Thank goodness we don't need chunky books for this challenge!! Of course you can read them if you want too ;) But shorter books will go faster and we can fill in more cards reading shorter ones.
Also, no worries on the color cards for now, seems we have plenty of those at the moment.

message 48: by Jessi (new)

Jessi (jazzykitty) | 450 comments Good morning Team Panna Cotta!!

I will have a planning/tracking spreadsheet up sometime today or tomorrow so that way you guys can start claiming spots and we can see what else we need. If you're not s/s savvy just let Jenny or I know, we're happy to help!

Welcome Kristie and Jess!!

message 49: by Angela (new)

Angela (scentofapage) | 487 comments Good morning everyone! I am Angela and I currently live in East Tennessee. I moved up here from Florida about a year ago and am still getting acclimated to the weather changes. :)

This is my second year of the UNO Challenge. I decided to sign up for it again since I had fun with it last year.

I read a good mix of every genre and like being pushed out of my comfort zone so send me any good title recs that you have!

I will look through my shelves today to see what I can cover for the colored cards. Stay tuned....

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 804 comments Welcome Jess and Angela! Good to have you with us.

Remember we'll also have a mini-challenge sometime in mid-February, so the sooner we knock off those color books the more time we'll have to focus on finding and reading books for the mini-challenge.
