What Members Thought
Considering that The Rules of Civility is one of my favorite books of all time, I was a little worried about whether I'd like A Gentleman in Moscow. The premise didn't originally appeal to me and it took me a while to get acclimated to the time and setting. But what wonderful storytelling this book is! I cannot praise this book enough, its a delightful read. Set in the time of the Russian Revolution and going forward into the 1950's A Gentleman of Moscow tells the story of a Russian Count, who as a young man, is sentenced to live under house arrest in the Metropol Hotel in Moscow. His life, the people he comes in contact with and how after many, many years he saves himself and his loved ones is a fascinating tale.
