This book is crazy!! Don’t even bother trying to guess the big reveal, because you will never, ever guess it. The plot was sufficiently intriguing to keep my attention, just to see what was going to happen next. Also, I love how many new words the author introduced me to, and I’m reasonably well-read. Gotta love ebooks for quickly looking up definitions!

Word to the wise, there are some GROSS descriptions in here. *shudder*

So here’s the thing. As far as being a gothic horror novel it hit all the key points. It gave me major Mystery of Udolpho vibes in a good way. The downside to that is I have to be in a certain type of mood to read novels like this. Novels that take their time to get to the point. Often times it seemed to be dragging for no apparent reason at all. Yet when it picked up at the end it really picked up. I wish her cousin the reason she was even at the estate in the first place played a bigger role, ...more

What a trip! Wow!

You pick up a book thinking, wow, what a fabulous cover. Then you crack the book open and get 75-100 pages in and think, I know where this is going... and then the book is like, oh, you have no clue, and then you're hooked. What a spine-chilling, creepy tome. Towards the end of which kind of made me want to live in a tent for a while, not going to lie. A perfect read for a chilly October weekend, just don't read it if you intend to sleep. ...more
