UNO 2022 Pre Challenge Chat

* Think about how many books you can read in a month.
There is no benefit in UNO to under-estimate because each team has a fixed number of books to read each month. It is best to be as accurate as you can so that your team doesn't finish the month early and then is bored for a week!. Have a look at what you read over the last 3 months, or for previous players what you read over last UNO.
* Do you want to be in a "chatty" team?
Consider your interaction on Goodreads. Do you want to log in at least every other day? If so you may want to select your preference for a "chatty team".
If you can only commit to checking the team once per week, a chatty team is not for you.
If you don't think you can make it onto Goodreads once per week (even if you haven't read anything) then UNO is not for you.
* Set up your UNO Shelf.
This helps your team captains check your books, and is also quite cool later when you want to see what you have read in UNO over the years. Goodreads help explains how to add a new shelf if you haven't done it before here
YOUR USER NAME IS VERY IMPORTANT
every year we have sign-ups that don't get this right. If you do not enter it correctly, we can not find you, which means you won't be placed on a team.
To find your user name:,
1. go to the desktop version of Goodreads. This means use a web browser on your tablet/phone/computer to go to www.goodeads.com
2. (sign in if required) Look at the top right hand side and you will see the far right circle that is your profile picture. Click on it, and then select "profile"
3. What you now see in the URL bar is not www.goodeads.com but instead your profile name. For example, this Pixie account shows www.goodreads.com/user/show/52624155-...
This means my user name is 52624155-uno-pixie
4. In the sign up form you will be asked to enter the number and the name separately (this helps with our formulas and to make sure people enter this information correctly). So my number would be 52624155 and my name would be uno-pixie

Christmas, new years eve, summer... and then UNO... ;)
I started UNO in 2016 as a simple team challenge which is all about socialising rather than competition. Looking forward to all the prior, and new, players this year.
I haven't captained a challenge for a while, but I do like to captain UNO so I'll have that hat on in 2022.
Not sure I have a book I'm desperate to read, but I always enjoy hunting for coloured covers :)

Uno is definitely the challenge I'm looking most forward to every year as well because it's relaxed, fun and yet does come with a bit of a challenge :-)

I've done UNO a couple of times, but not sure what years. I know I participated this year.
My favorite genres are fantasy and thriller. So, I've got a couple of them planned this year.

(new)

I have played the Bachelor Game before, so I have a little experience. My favorite genres are romance, dark romance & urban fiction. 🤪 Here's to a great game!! ☃️💜🤎
2 books I'm excited about for 2022:

I'm taking part in challenges that are mostly passive or one-sided, so UNO will be my only team challenge in 2022. I played last year and had so much fun with my team.
I read mostly classics and contemporary, but I'm going to read more poetry in 2022, which I've sorely missed. I'm also going to work my way into reading some French novels - my grasp of the language is not that good yet, so I'm hoping to work my way to it.
I kid you not, I created a 2022 spreadsheet to record the books I want to read. It's 25-30 books long already. Some are re-reads (Pride and Prejudice, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings series, Little Women), and most are first timers.
Looking forward to playing :)

I first participated in UNO in 2017 and that was also my very first team challenge on GR. I have been a fan ever since.
Looking forward to playing with you all. ♡♡♡

I've been playing since 2016 and looking forward to hunting for those colour covers.
Signed up!

Can you link me to the other challenge your talking about? 😀

Can't wait to get started!

I like reading a bit of everything, though not hugely fond of YA or romance (or YA Romance, lol).
Books I can't wait to read this coming year? All of them! although my daughter is moving out again in a few weeks, which means I'll have a place where I can sit at a desk to read some of those huge hardback collections. Planning to start with The Complete Works of H.P. Lovecraft :D

So, I have been hearing about UNO since 2016 *waves to Karen* but never joined. I wasn't even a perks member - that changed today!
So, yeah, the team challenge addicted is playing newbie... I am so excited!!!
You had me at relaxed and no page points. After how crazy work has been for the past months I need it.
So. No idea how it's going to be and zero expectactions. What can be translated to I'm here, wow me!
*giggles*

I promise I'll let Eni know about it as soon as her brain is functioning!!!

My 9 y.o niece got the newest diary of a wimpy kid for xmas... Eni and I start proudly smiling when we heard her saying "uhmmmm, it smells so new and nice!"

Nope!
I joined the group today, 5 minutes before signing up.

Wheel was brutal so I'm giving myself a break but I'll still be playing.

I have taken part in UNO before (Team Pretty in Pink last year) and it is, without doubt, one of my favourite challenges on GR.
I read anything and everything though romance tends to be a tough genre for me.

Ditto! :)

And the place will never be the same again... lol.

*evil laugh*

I only signed up as a player, because A: It's my first time playing, and B: I'm still burnt out from wheel and need a break. A year or two should do it, lol.
Am also supposed to be getting house ready for sale, but that isn't going anywhere fast :(

and I still have a couple of last minute christmas gifts to knit/crochet....
uhmmmm

and I still have a couple of last minute christmas gifts to knit/crochet...."
Dooooo iiiiittttttt! :D

I'm also tempted to watch wheel of time... those kind of stories that I prefer watching than reading... who knows... maybe big books are in my future after all.

Sammy wrote: "hi guys, I'm Sammy - and first-time Uno player (literally first time. I've never played the card game either. Wasn't a thing here when I was growing up) I have played many other team challenges ove..."
I love H. P. Lovecraft! He's amazing.
