what other team challenges do you participate in??
Yes, Anne - it's a crazy fun challenge over at "Nothing but Reading Challenges". We are just recovering from the last round which took place from mid-Oct to mid-Dec. :)And UNO also set me on the perilous and addictive path of group challenges back in 2017. :D

Last year I also participated in Tower Teams challenge, which was in another book club. But it was immediately after this one. So after that I was looking for a 3rd one, but didn't learn about it until almost a month after it started. So it felt like wondering the dessert after that! :p

This is the one that I missed and learnt about almost a month later! OMG!

Hi Jo.
Nice to meet you.
Is it just me or does anyone else find it difficult to pick a consistent favorite genre? I find different genres interesting at different points of time in my life. So when someone asks me for a favorite, all I can say is, 'Depends on my mood!' :p
You need to turn on notifications for the NBCR "Our next challenge is... " thread so that you are in the loop about challenges. I can add the link to this post later. Am on my phone right now.

I can't pinpoint a favorite genre either! I just love books.

Yes, I've heard of the tower teams challenge, I've never done. I did do the Bachelor challenge once
I'm new to team challenges as well, but i dove headfirst. the only ones i really like though are the ones like Uno or tower teams. as in its one big team challenge, not a whole bunch of mini challenges that you pile together for your bigger group. not really a fan of those
I used to be like that with genres, so I totally get it!! The last two years I’ve had a solid favorite (needed a happy one to deal with everything going on in the world LOL) but prior to that I was always regularly switching it up!

It makes me so sad, but I just can't sign up for UNO this year. I'm barely getting through one book a week and I'm afraid that a team challenge would just make the reading too stressful for me. And reading is my happy place, I can't let it be stressful. So I hope everyone has fun and I will stop in to see what I'm missing later.
Hey everyone!! My name is Andrea and I played Uno in 2017 and 2016 and am so excited to possibly get to play again. I really do read a bit of most genres but if I had to pick favourites they would probably be: contemporary romance, suspense, YA and memoirs.
The 2022 book I'm most excited for is Beth O'Leary's new one "The No-Show" as she has become my favourite author as of late.

Hi Kaley! I hope you will love The Road Trip. I read it in 2021 and it was a 5* book for me!
I have played several other team challenges, but this is my first time for Uno. I have my blue, green, red and yellow shelves set up. I am hoping that will help. I'm looking forward to a fun time.

Jammin Jenny wrote: "That's really the most important thing. To have fun while you're playing."Aye Aye!
Hi everyone! My name is Ilsen and this is my third time playing UNO! My first team was Void Tartlet with the captain Kaley (hi Kaley!!) although I’m not sure why it isn’t recorded on the spreadsheet. I might have messed up on the signup but I was there. And then last year I was Team Gremlins with the captain Jenny (hi Jenny!!) I’ve only played the UNO team challenge but I have joined the Nothing But Reading Challenges Goodreads group as Jenny has suggested but I haven’t found or joined any new group challenges that worked like this one. There was an old one that intrigued me called “My Restaurant Rocks” and I hope they can bring it back! And I might get notified whenever there’s a new team challenge in the page that someone mentioned on this thread!
My favorite genres are contemporary and fantasy. I also really like mysteries and romance. I know that an age group is not a genre but I read mostly within the YA bracket but I’m trying to read a good amount of middle grade and adult into my TBR as well. In terms of what I want to read this year, I want to try to catch up to more new releases while also making a dent onto my owned TBR. I also realized that two of the books that I’m reading right now would have count for the colored cards so I already messed up but here are some books I’m really looking forward to read for UNO (not all of them are going to be colored cards, just books that I’ve been meaning to get to):
A Vow So Bold and Deadly
Monday's Not Coming
Ace of Spades
Cemetery Boys
I'll Be the One
Opposite of Always
The First Time She Drowned
Mexican Gothic
Vicious Spirits
Truly Devious
The Girl Who Drank the Moon
I Wanna Be Where You Are
An Arrow to the Moon
The Grimrose Girls
The Thousandth Floor
You Should See Me in a Crown
I’m excited to try to get to some of these and getting to know new people (although maybe I will see familiar faces) but it’s all up to the hands of fate now. Also let me know if anyone wants to buddy read any of these! I hope everyone has a nice reading year!
Welcome back Ilsen! The spreadsheet wasn’t picking you up for 2020 as we had you in lower case that year but proper for 2021. The formula likes exact case unfortunately!! So because I like things “right” I have changed the info in the 2020 sheet so now it shows you for void tartlet too😆
Hi Ilsen! So glad to see you back again!Keep bringing up the My Restaurant Rocks challenge, and Karen might just bow to peer pressure. (fingers crossed) teehee
Sorry, I owe you the link where you can follow about team challenges over at NBRCOur Next TEAM Challenge is...........?

Besides Uno, I've done Wheel-a-thon like everyone else. Also did the Towers Team last year and will definitely be doing that again.
Hey y’all, I’ve never played uno before so this is going to be a learning curve for me. I remember doing tower teams one year and absolutely loved it but I’ve seemed to miss signups every year after. I’m hoping to make it this year.!
Hi everyone. Newbie here. I love playing the UNO card game and I'm not new to challenges. I'm excited to see how this one works (in action)!!

If not, I hope you have a good team!
I’ve heard a lot about the UNO challenge, and I would love to give it a go, but I’m not a quick reader and don’t have a lot of time to read, so only manage a couple of books a month, so not really useful for this kind of challenge. But it really does look like it’s lots of fun.
Naomi, there are plenty of people who sign up to read only one or two books a month. Don't let that stop you.The fun can also be in the team chatter.
I second Jenny, Naomi. UNO is precisely that kind of challenge where you can read " a couple of books" as well as a higher number. :)
I third Jenny and Melindam! Last year I signed up with 5 books a month, but once I started the challenge I got so into it i ended up with 10/15 a month. But even if you read only 1-2, youll be placed on a team accordingly! Every book counts ;)
Hi everyone :) this is my 4th UNO and something I look forward to every year! I see some familiar faces, hi peeps from Team Gremlin and Captain Jenny!

Unfortunately didn't get to join that one on time but all NBRC team challenges are fun.
Hello! This is my first UNO challenge. I've done a few of the NBRC ones, and I've always seen people coming off this one excited and exhausted :)I said, I want to try that!!
So here I am!
Mary wrote: "How do I sign up? Google document but I am unsure what to do. I really want to join this game!"The sign-up document is under this comment.

A few reminders1/ Sign-ups close on the 14th. Remembering time differences that could be earlier than you think. If you, or someone you know, was thinking of signing up and hasn't done so yet, now is the time to read the rules and complete the google form. It is all in this thread.
2/ If you signed up last year, but were replaced because the captain did not hear from you, or you withdrew from the challenge, you will need to send a message to the Pixie account as to what has changed this year. Your sign up will get flagged (you will see this on the spreadsheet) and you will not be placed in a team unless you message us first.
3/ We totally get that it is fun to play with people you know. And we have no problems with trying to accommodate requests for 2-3 people to be on the same team
BUT
a. We don't make "whole" teams of set people (so you can't request 10 people on one team for example)
b. Book counts play a large role in UNO because the teams have a set number of books to read each month. So if you have a group that reads 150 books in the month and the team only has to read 80 it means you'll be bored for half the month (I'm sure you don't want that!). So if you and your friends have large book counts it can be difficult to make a viable team.
So please know that we are reading the comments in your sign-ups and will try our best to put you in teams with those you have requested, but it is not always possible
Hi everyone. This is my fourth UNO and I still have no idea why it's so addictive and my favourite challenge.
