message 157: by Lauri (new)

Lauri (otwlauri) | 935 comments I regret nothing! I just finished a green cover -- but I had already started it BEFORE 2021 and it was a Christmas story...

So many books, so little time. I just want to play already!

message 158: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 321 comments I am currently on a re-read kick. I usually get one of those a few times a year. This time, it is in between challenges. I couldn’t be happier

message 159: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments I am indulging in an absolutely disgraceful, but delicious reading slump (no great wonder, after Wheel :). But I know my reading gears will totally kick in at the start of UNO, so it's all right. :)

Haha, same here, Melinda ;) Indulged reading slumps are quite nice, it's the unplanned ones that are the worst...

Kristie | 5928 comments Christina wrote: "Ok Kaley now tell us what that green I book was please! *eye emoji*"

I'm going to guess In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren lol

I also have a yellow N book for anyone that enjoys a bit of nonfiction - Breath The New Science of a Lost Art by James Nestor by James Nestor

message 167: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 510 comments I like to look on the positive side, so those of you (us) who’ve read color books can post the ones they read when color/letter books are needed. That could save some of us time searching plus we’d get recommendations of good books or not so good lol

message 168: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments I'd recommend both of these books:

In Another Light by A.J. Banner - Blue 5
A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas - Red 6

I'd like to add that A Court of Thorns and Roses can fit a few other numbers aside from 6! At least 1, 2, 4, 8, and 9 that I can think of off the top of my head! (I am very likely going to be rereading that one this year)

⚚♆ Cynthia ♆⚚ | 99 comments Hello Everyone! I just signed up and I am excited to start. I have participated in some team challenges before and I can see many familiar names but this is actually my first time playing UNO. I got the rec during Wheels and as a fan of team challenges, here I am!

I have gone for a conservative book # after not doing great for Wheels (learned my lesson!). The situation should be better though as my new job and apartment are now 100% sorted, yay! Just wanted to play safe in case something comes up.

For 2022, my goal is to finish as many of my ongoing series as I can and any book on my TBR shelf added before 2018.

Looking forward to meeting my teammates!

message 179: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments I feel like I've read a lot of good colored covers recently. A couple others that I enjoyed that can be used for "T" (2).

The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews The Maid by Nita Prose The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward The Story of Arthur Truluv (Mason, #1) by Elizabeth Berg Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

How to Walk Away by Katherine Center for "H" (3).

Welcome, Cynthia! That is a good goal. I'm still working on 2012. *smh* I only have four books left though, then it's on to 2013.

message 181: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments Okay you win. But, I joined GR in 2014 so maybe not...my oldest book on my TBR was added in Dec 2015, then I have a bunch from 2016 and each year after that. Right now my TBR mountain (like K2) is 9,247 books...

Thank you!! I joined GR in 2016 but I was not very active until 2019 so that's why I don't have anything older. If not...I would be pretty much like you. This year I said, Cynthia you either read them or remove them from your TBR, let's see how it goes!

message 183: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 871 comments I moved another book to February to have a red UNO card

The Collective by Alison Gaylin - Red 0, 2, 3, 9

Kristie | 5928 comments That's where I'm at with my last four from 2012, Cynthia. It's been 10 years! I need to either read them or remove them from the shelf.

message 185: by UNO Pixie, Our UNO Helper (new)

UNO Pixie | 1839 comments Great recommendations everyone!

Just a reminder, that if you are looking for colour covers for books we have four uno shelves.

Here are the links to our uno coloured shelves. It would be great if you can add any books you find to these shelves, or "recommend" the book to the pixie and we can add it.
This helps keep our own little database of cover colours for UNO :)

red covers
blue covers
green covers
yellow covers

Important note
Some books on this list may not seem like the colour cover. This is because GR will show the default version. There may be a specific version that has been shelved that is the actual colour. The version you read is what you should shelve, and is what counts, for UNO

Note: If you also like to shelve coloured covers, you can shelve coloured books as these shelf names:
uno-yellow
uno-green
uno-red
uno-blue

:)

Robynne Lozier My name is Robynne and this will be my 3rd time playing UNO.

UNO is the only team challenge that I do.

Thank you Pixie for this info. I was a bit confused about the colors and numbers, so I went back and read the directions/rules post again. I created shelves of the different colors so at least as I come across different color covers that I want to read I can organize them into those shelves for future Uno choices.

Since this will be my first time participating in Uno I'm hoping whichever group I'm placed in will be able to help me with any the questions I may have along the way.

message 189: by JoJo_theDodo (last edited Jan 07, 2022 08:06AM) (new)

JoJo_theDodo | 320 comments I just want to confirm that book that contains essay/stories are okay to use for Uno. I have this book that I think could be shelved as Uno-Yellow
The Souvenir Museum The Souvenir Museum by Elizabeth McCracken

message 190: by JoJo_theDodo (new)

JoJo_theDodo | 320 comments Also, just to confirm that this book can be used for Uno-Green. It is a mystery, but contains some recipes. Not sure if that would slightly fall into the category of cookbook?

Apple Turnover Murder (Hannah Swensen, #13) by Joanne Fluke

Melindam | 4427 comments JoJo

1. Yes to the collection of essays as long as they meet the necessary page requirement (over 100)

2. It's green all right and not a cookbook

message 193: by BookishlyWise (new)

BookishlyWise haha yeah with that logic all Dan Brown books would fall under History :P

I am hooked to team challenges after I played Uno last year and now my life feels empty without them. :P

Welcome! Although the rules look long, it is actually a simple challenge to play. It will make more sense once you are in a team and no doubt the team members and captains will help you out :)

message 196: by Carly (new)

Carly (justanothersnakecult) | 50 comments I did the UNO challenge last year for the first time. As someone who is consistently paralyzed by the overwhelming number of books there are to be read, I enjoyed the little bit of guidance the cards give me as I pick books from the endless "to read" shelf! :D

message 197: by JoJo_theDodo (new)

JoJo_theDodo | 320 comments Thank you so much for the clarification and encouragement! I'm really looking forward to this and it seems like it's going to be a great way to get some books read from my physical TBR shelves! Reading books from my book shelves at home is my only real reading goal this year! ❤️📚❤️

Same thing happened to me. Team challenges, beginning with Uno, really jump-started my reading habit after I discovered them a few years ago.
