I really enjoyed this book by Stegner. The book is about Larry and Sally, two young adults who are married and move to a town where Larry has a job teaching at the local university. This novel was written some time ago before the electronic explosion. It takes place around the time of WWII, and deals with two families in academia. They are friends though clearly from different economic backgrounds. It is a novel of family dynamics in a much gentler time than today. Refreshing in a good sense.

Gorgeous. Devastating. Too close to home. That makes two Stegner novels I’ll never forget.
