What Members Thought
This book is possibly the best book I have read of all times. It has everything that anyone would want in a book because it is composed of a little of every genre. The book has so many symbolisms and imageries that no one can figure it all out in the first read.

Surreal, mystical and poetic. Beautiful story. Powerful but soft. Fantastical and ethereal. The Strangeness of it was intriguing. I did feel that the ending left many questions unanswered, but it was a very satisfying ending non the less. It is long book. The audio version was very well narrated with three different narrators. The editing of the narration added to the experience as a while. I'll be reading much more Murakami.

Perhaps I've outgrown Murakami and/or perhaps this is just not a very good Murakami book.
I always think I'm going to get a fresh twist when I read the plot summary to one of his novels because he usually succeeds in developing an intricate and original overarching story, but like a Japanese Philip Roth, he keeps writing the same protagonist and incorporating and relying on the same narrative elements to tell these interesting stories. I'm all for motifs, but isn't there another whisky in all of ...more
