Red Rising is a captivating read. Initially, it felt like it had the perfect mix of everything, but then there was a moment that left me a bit puzzled. Some elements seemed like they could've gone in a different direction, making more sense for the story's environment. However, I was invested in the narrative and never felt bored. The fast way to describe this?
Think of Panem mixed with some SciFi.

I really enjoyed this book. I got sucked into the story pretty quickly. The characters were believable. There were good ones, bad ones, and most importantly - those in between. There is not only black and white in this one. There's also quite some grey territory. That is what I liked best. Characters change, people deceive others, and thereby also you. 4.5 stars. It's like Camp Half-Blood meets Battle Royale. Brutal, exciting and a real page-turner. Not at all what I expected, but I think I liked it more because of it! Fuller review to come.

God, this book is boring.
p 100. If this wasn't a joint review thing I would give up! This is such a DNF. Who cares about these idiots?!
Oh and how come after 100 of years the reds do not know that peeps live in Mars. I would think someone somewhere would have spilled the beans in mistake.

Well this was an interesting read! This novel, first of a trilogy, was penned by a new author and was quite well written. That said, this read was at times very frustrating but in the next page, brilliant! Red Rising is a page turner, a ripping yarn. Devoured in just three days! It had me at hello.

It's not entirely original, and it's filled with cliche, but it oozes a charisma that doesn't let go bringing the age of heroes to the stars.

I see influences like The Hunger Games, Total Recall, Lord of the Flies, and Dune. It does enough however to carve out its own identify.
