The beginning was a little slow, and over-the-top in setting the scene and mood (for me personally), but it hit a certain point and I couldn't (and didn't) put it down! I think it's hard to have such a premise turn into something good that feels satisfying when it's over, but Collins manages to pull that off. I'm also fascinated with the world she has SO clearly painted for me. The story was tragic, inspiring, moving and mortifying all at the same time. ...more

It's not very often you find a great YA novel about a dystopian future. It's even more rare when part of the book involves the protagonist killing people. This book had both, and a riveting storyline to boot. I was able to relate to Katniss, although the love triangle felt a little tacked on to appeal to the Twilight crowd. ...more

Got this book as an eBay Daily Deal and honestly don't know why it had to hit the "bargain rack" before I picked it up. Once I did, I couldn't put it down--and that hasn't happened in a good long while. This book is a very quick read and definitely deserving of all the hype.
