I've already seen all the movies except the second part of Mockingjay so I know the story line. But I was pleased to find that although the movie did follow the book closely, as usual, the book allowed more depth of both character and of storyline. I am starting the next book in the series now and am looking forward to being dropped once again into the dystopic world of The Hunger Games.

An incredibly compulsive and well-crafted story. I had a fancy that the author devised the story while watching Survivor and thinking what would it be like if you took the show's concept to its most horrid, and depraved extreme. I'm sure that is not how she conceived of the tale but that's what I kept imagining.
1) Make the competitors children.

I refused to read these books for the longest time. I keep thinking why would I want to read a book about children killing each other? I finally gave in and am so happy I did. It's not what I thought it would be and I loved it! It wasn't what I thought it would be - and I was very excited to finally read a young adult book where the main character was a strong woman who wasn't dependent on anyone else. If you haven't picked this up because you've been turned off by the whole "hunger games" aspec
