These books are all so good. I read the first 4 together and it's been a while so I'd forgotten what happened to a few characters and had a hard time remembering who a few were (there's just so many characters!). It was good to see the return of more of my favorites again, the last book in the series was not as appealing to me. One thing I really love about this author is that he's not afraid to kill off interesting and sympathetic characters for the sake of a realistic story. ...more

As a continuation of the ASoIaF series, this book definitely satisfies. At this point, George R. R. Martin is keeping so many balls in that air that I've begun to loose track of the number. I see much better now why this and _A Feast For Crows_ were split into two books. Switching between fewer characters in this book also kept ...more

It's disappointing, because I liked the first few books quite a bit. But! They mostly focused on the same characters, many of which I liked.

This book and A Feast for Crows could easily have been combined into one simply by removing many of the chapters narrated by random

The first three books rank among my Top 10 Fantasy Reads, so it’s been incredibly disappointing to see the wheels fall off this once great series. Back in the day, it used to be a true page turner, building suspense from chapter to chapter, offering unexpected twists and shocking turns. Now, the individual stories drag out as more and more characters are added to the increasingly complex mix. Two-thirds of the way through this book, all those characters reached critical mass and I began to lose ...more
