What Members Thought

Not a bad read.
The author does a nice job of creating a new universe while not going overboard on the lore behind it.
This is a quick read that flows well, you'll find yourself turning the pages at a pretty good clip.
I think the story was a bit too long with too much filler that did not contribute to the story, amongst this was quite a bit of romance style storyine, could have done without all of that.
Overall, I'd recommend it but I don't see it as a classic or mind-blowing. ...more

At first this book was slow going for me. It is pretty bleak. But the world of the book is amazing and layered, the idea of captive gods was intriguing and I loved the strong heroine of color. In the end, I've been thinking about this book ever since I put it down and I look forward to reading the sequel.

A different and interesting fantasy world. There were little things I didn't love about it, hence the 3 star rating, but overall I enjoyed it. I'll most likely read the next one in the series at some point.

surprisingly good. it's outside of my usual, but the storytelling was just really good. this is an easy one to get sucked into.
