The Lives of Tao surprised me and kept me reading almost non-stop. I only took a break to attend a star party hosted by my astronomy club at a proposed site for a new observatory. Wes Chu combines elements of spy thrillers, the hero's journey and sci-fi for this immensely enjoyable novel. If the idea of a secret race of aliens living on earth and training humans to be covert agents sounds like fun, then you'll love this book.

A fun read and one I would have enjoyed a lot more had I not got stuck on one egregious logic lapse early on. The bad guys are incredibly powerful, yet can’t be bothered to fork over twenty bucks and do a license plate check on our hero’s abandoned car and thereby learn his identity.
