What Members Thought

I have given this book as a gift but never read it myself (I know, blasphemy). I have to say that some parts made me chuckle, and some of it is rather clever. But I have a hard time getting over the humor/writing style which is very reminiscent of Douglas Adams.
This is the 10th anniversary edition, with very funny introductions and Q&A with the authors. I adore Neil Gaiman and still haven't read anything by just Terry Pratchett.

I heard a lot of hype before reading this book, so I was mildly disappointed when it wasn't the best thing I'd ever read. That being said, it was still a great book based on a hysterical premise.
Good quote from the book:
"There are some dogs which, when you meet them, remind you that, despite thousands of years of manmade evolution, every dog is still only two meals away from being a wolf."

Crazy, crazy, crazy book. I was reminded of reading Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy while I was reading Good Omens (and felt the same way I did with Hitchhiker's as well.. as if about 90% of the book was just flying over my head).
It was crazy in a very fun way though. I chortled and laughed dozens and dozens of times. I found myself scratching my head and re-reading certain paragraphs again and again, and at times I felt my eyes cross because there was just so much happening.

Actually more of a 4.5 than a 5, but it's just such a fun book and I feel like recommending it to most good people..
It's a very fun and accessible read. Furthermore, it is interesting, humorous, and even poignant.
I confess I have not read Pratchett on his own (though I certainly will), so I don't know exactly where Pratchett and Gaiman end/begin.. I will say that the writing is not Gaiman's best, nor can I consider his prose generally to be 5-star; but it's solid enough, and, out of 5 stars, he' ...more
