RJ - Slayer of Trolls
The world's best-selling mystery book is a glimpse of Agatha Christie at height of her formidable storytelling powers. The introductions of ten diverse characters is deftly and quickly managed and, as they start dropping dead one by one, the plot twists are delivered so cleverly that the reader will feel impelled to keep reading just one more chapter. Like most Christie mysteries, a fair-sized dollop of Suspension of Disbelief helps the whole thing go down more easily. ...more

"There was something magical about an island—the mere word suggested fantasy. You lost touch with the world—an island was a world of its own. A world, perhaps, from which you might never return."

Ten people on an isolated island with no means of escape when things take a turn. The island acts as a purgatory of sorts, each character wa

I found myself engrossed in this story and if it hadn't been for wrapping presents I would have completed it much sooner then the 3 days it took me.

Possibly it is a case of too many imitators dulling the original. Christie created an archetype of mystery novels and movies - ten strangers are brought together in a mansion, only to be killed off one by one by the murderer amongst them. Possibly, the movie spoiled the book for me. Not necessarily bec ...more

This was my first Christie, a sparely written and highly suspenseful little mystery. I thought I had figured out whodunnit, but I had it wrong!

I understand that the title has gone through several evolutions to make it less offensive, but I was still startled by some bigoted attitudes within the text. This did lessen my enjoyment quite a bit. I guess things have really changed.
