It's interesting how this book appealed to both the adult and the little child in me at the same time. How do I put into words this book. I've had an advanced reader copy of this book since A Witch’s Guide to Escape: A Practical Compendium of Portal Fantasies won in the Hugo's 2019. Then picked up a second kindle copy & an audible, because I wanted to author to get the proceeds from it, as well.

A girl grows up in an interesting situation and then slowly learns the magical truth of her guardian, her father, and her herself. It was interesting but I found the main character rather unpersuasive; she took a long time to develop agency (for realistic plot reasons, but I was still impatient), the frame didn't make emotional sense, and I had an allergy to love stories. So a good book, but not aimed at me.
