This book was a cross between “The Girl on the Train” and Agatha Christie. First off, we have our “witness” who is shown to be rather unreliable early on, we have all the suspects trapped on a luxury yacht (i.e. Orient Express-esque), and we have a murder mystery to solve. The clues and plot twists were fun, I certainly didn’t find it predictable and honestly, I still had multiple suspects until it was revealed. Shelves: thriller-suspense-mystery

I read this in one sitting, on the beach, on my birthday, which probably turned it from a 3-star to a 4-star rating, although really it's 3.5. It reminds me a lot of Girl in the Train, with a woman's story in question and a mystery unfolding. I liked the news reports and emails at the end of each section as they helped build suspense. I didn't like the whiny main character or a few of the dumb interactions, and it's still hard to understand why two men seem to want to be with her. I plan to chec ...more

Lo Blacklock is a travel journalist covering the inaugural trip of the niche cruise ship the Aurora on its trip from England to Norway. The ship only has 10 cabins. Lo becomes concerned when the woman in the cabin next to hers disappears, possibly murdered. I figured out who the bad guy was fairly easily and was rather annoyed by Lo. I also thought the ending was kind of ridiculous. I didn't like the audio book narrator. I found all of her accents to be annoying and distracting from the story. ...more
