Ok where to begin? I began reading this book at about 8:00pm and finished it at about 4:00am. This book was unputdownable! Even though I finished it at 4 I spent a whole hour in booked out bliss.
I have not found although longed for this bliss for quite some time and the fact it came from this book was quite unexpected!
I have read the many rave reviews for this author but for some reason, I'm not sure why, convinced myself I wouldn't like her stuff. This book however caught my eye and ...more

Great feast for the dark mind
A feast of evil, an unordinary couple, kids growing up too soon or too fast in the age of monsters and dark minds. I loved the world created by Schwab and I got really immersed into the world of Verity. Or rather the world where Kate and August found and almost lost each other. Beautiful character development and compelling story telling. I only found the first half a bit slow, otherwise I am grateful to have finally read this first volume and eager to continue with ...more

Good solid read. I loved the fact that it focused on people surviving and not on love. The relationships that you were exposed to were siblings, parent/child, slave/hired, human/monster. All of us have the potential to have a piece of monster in us.
As usual the author was lovely. I'm excited to read further thin the series.
