Shelves: america, horror

This is one of the most disturbing books I think I have ever read. Patrick Bateman is the most vile human being I have ever encountered in fiction. This book was made all the more unsettling by the fact it was written in the first person, so you are essentially stuck inside the head of this psychopath and it isn't a pleasant place to be at all. The sex and murder scenes (which often melded from one to the other) were so graphic and horrific I found myself having to skip over them. There is no do ...more

Wow. Uhm... Where to start with this one? It was like a trainwreck from which I couldn't look away. Genius writing, no doubt about it, but I could have done with about a hundred pages less and come away happier.

I am very curious now to check out the film adaptation and Christian Bale's portrayal of the protagonist. I've heard lots of good things...
