There are some books that are literary works of art. While reading, you mentally stand back and admire the intricacy and elegance of the prose, the world-building and sheer scope of the story. Then there are the books that fill you with the joy of reading. They make you laugh, jump in your chair and exclaim out loud--both curses and cheers. This book falls into the latter category.

Because this series has been my very favorite for a long-ass time, I was really slow to read this final book. It's a weird thing I do, sometimes. Like, I still haven't watched the last episode of Orphan Black. It's almost as though, by avoiding the ending, I can pretend it didn't end. So whereas I'd normally devour a new Kate Daniels book within the first 24 hours of release, this one sat a bit on my Kindle, staring at me for a few weeks. Months? I can't remember exactly when the release was.

Any Because this series has been my very favorite for a long-ass time, I was really slow to read this final book. It's a weird thing I do, sometimes. Anyway, I'm going to give this 5 stars. Because I love Kate, and I love Curran, and I love Erra, Barabas, Roman, and so many other secondary characters. And I love Roland, and his complicated relationship with Kate. He's evil, for sure. But in some weird way, they care about each other, and the emotion loaded into their encounters is tremendous. I thought the main arc was fantastic, and I really enjoyed it.

Great ending to an amazing series but it will take a few rereads before it sinks in that the series is actually over.

I'm an emotional wreck after that, what a book!

I loved it in so many ways. Conlan was perfect, and Kate's actions concerning him had me cheering. I loved how the protective side of her came out, everything we have seen in each book that led to this point just felt natural in her new role. Curran annoyed me, which he has been known to do but I still love him.

I liked that we seen more of Hugh, and Elara and resolved some issues.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, book hangover is pending for sure. Need ...more

I reread the whole series to catch up with this book. So much had happened, I can't believe this is the end. It was well written and everything came together like pieces of a puzzle. So many action scenes, witty dialogues, perfect timings, and hilarious sense of humor. I'm in awe how this series all came together.

I'm sad some characters had to die. But overall it was perfect and I'm happy to read the first of the spin-off series before I dived in this one. Like Kate Lennart said, 'I love you al ...more
