I really enjoyed this. Rather than being a retelling with zombies a la Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Showalter wrote a zombie novel with several nods and references to Alice in Wonderland. It was a fun book to read and I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for book 2. ...more

This book is so much fun! Well, and also brutal and a little scary and too short. Gena Showalter tends to be hit and miss for me in regular PNR, but this book was definitely a hit. The heroine had a great voice, is funny and handled everything thrown at her with courage and strength. The hero is perfectly besotted with her as well as a bad ass--in other words-perfect. The story is engaging, the world is crazy and I cannot wait for the next in the series.
