Another fun read following Rune and Carling. I have to say, I really don't get how long hair on men is sexy, but I guess it worked for Rune. wow... this was another delightful story in the elder races series. Ms Harrison is a master storyteller and can weave magic into every word. Her prose is deep and rich but nothing beats her characters.

Rune and Carling are lovably screwed up and you cant help rooting for them. Once they finally give into their passions and embrace each other there is no tearing them apart. It's been a long time since I read the first two Elder Races books, and I think I needed that space to appreciate this book more. We met Carling in book 2, and I didn't like her much. Knowing her book was next, I put this series aside. Coming back to it now, I'd forgotten my dislike, and read this for what it is, a hot, heart-breaking story of a love affair which has lasted millennia. Carling is fantastic, and Rune is everything that made me fall in love with this series. I love those gryphons! ...more

I loved the first book in this series, and I really liked the second book but this one was just "meh" for me. There wasn't anything I really disliked about it but I found it very easy to put down and I was easily distracted while reading it. I liked both Carling and Rune but I had a hard time getting invested in their story. It definitely picked up at the end but took way too long to get there. The next one in the series is getting really good reviews so maybe this one was just a misstep. ...more

I really enjoy the guys in this series. This book was interesting and really made you think, along with the characters. I liked the twists and enjoyed the adventure and the ending. I do wish more of the other sentinels were in each story, but laughed at Aryal's messages. Look forward to the next book. ...more
