Oh, Thea Harrison, I thought dragon sex was hot. Now I have a very sexy Thunderbird on my mind. *fans self*
I loved Tricks Periwinkle in Dragon’s Heart. Tricks was tiny, spunky, tough on the outside, and a real girly-girl on the inside. I loved her even more in this book. Tricks, now known as Niniane Lorelle, (and never Ninny!) is the sole heir to the Dark Fae throne. Claiming her position places her in danger and there are multiple attempts on her life.

I liked Tricks in the first book. She was interesting. She had lived with Dragos group (demesne) for over 200 years after she fled her murdering uncle (who was killed in book 1). With the uncle now deceased, she is the heir to the dark fae throne. Tricks is now known as Niniane and there is someone who wants her dead. Enter Tiago (a thunderbird is his other form) a Wyr soldier to function as her bodyguard and hunt down the one(s) who want her gone.

This is a fantastic follow up to Dragon Bound, even if it's not quite at the same level.
The beginning was a little slow for me, Niniane's character didn't quite mesh with the view of her I received in the first book. The more I read and settled into the story, the more things picked up and I grew to understand Niniane better. Betrayed at a young age and running for her life, she found shelter with the Wyr. Knowing her physical and magical strength left her at a disadvantage, they taught her to ...more

I don't know how to review this book. I mean...yeah, don't know how to do it.
I just keep staring at the picture of the cover and one question remains --> why cut off Tiago's head?? I mean, yeah, it's "that" kind of book, but still... And to add insult to injury, the library edition I have has the library barcode placed smack dab on Tiago's shirtless chest...which only leaves Tiago from the waist down and half a cityscape in the backgroun ...more

Not as amazing as the first book, but still a good story.
What I enjoyed:
* Tricks - She has spunk.
* The politics were intriguing.
* I liked the harpy much more this time around.
What could have been better:
* The hero was just kind of so-so for me.
* I wanted to see more of Pia.
* (view spoiler)
* The vampire lady was annoying, (view spoiler) ...more

I didn't lurve this one as much as the first book but it was still a very enjoyable 4* read. For me, there's sometimes an indefinable difference between 4 & 5*s and whatever that intangible thing is this one was missing it. I like how Harrison gives her growly alphas a sense of humor that I find keeps them from being overwhelming. I enjoyed Tiago and Tricks, although I thought the mystery of who was behind the assassination attempts was pretty weak. But I'm still loving the world and the other c
