This was a really cool book. What an intriguing world. In this world, people with Psy powers who are taught from an early age to suppress their emotions. The Psy do not feel rage, nor are they violent. They are in absolute control of their emotions, logical. The Psy are known to have enhanced mental capabilities such as telepathy, foresight, telekinesis, and psychometry.

This world also includes changelings. The Darkriver Leopard Pack is led by Lucas Hunter. The other changeling pack in the area This was a really cool book. What an intriguing world. This world also includes changelings. The Darkriver Leopard Pack is led by Lucas Hunter. The other changeling pack in the area is the Snow Dancers, wolf changelings.

The Psy do not mix with the changelings but Sascha Duncan is given the opportunity to work with Lucas Hunter on a construction project. She is given this assignment so that she can learn more about the changelings. Sascha is a little bit of an oddball among her kinds. She thinks she is broken and lacks a Psy power.

I must admit that I am kicking myself for not reading this sooner. I was floored by the writing style and I’ve seen that it only gets better. Nalini Singh has an elegant, beautiful writing style. It was so relaxing to kick back and read this book.

There were a few things that stood out for me in this book: The chemistry between Sascha and Lucas. I loved that Lucas’ panther was fascinated by Sascha. I enjoyed the slow buildup to a relationship. The sensation thing was exquisite. It made me want a Lucas of my own….Hot!

“Traveling” the Psy-Net – Cool beyond cool. Sascha was able to use her mind and enter a collective of minds and stored data to glean information. Fascinating.

Changelings accepting Sascha – As changelings and Psy do not normally associate; it was very odd that Sascha would be so readily accepted by the changelings. One of my favorite scenes was the one where the young changeling cubs were playfully chewing on Sascha’s shoes. Priceless.

Of course, there was a great story. Changelings are being kidnapped and killed. I was able to guess who the bad guy was, but it was a fun read nonetheless.

Off to find myself a copy of the next book Visions of Heat.

2011 Re-Read

There are no words to describe how sexy Lucas Hunter is. But he's not the only thing I loved about this book.

I absolutely loved the world of the changelings, psy and humans. Such an elaborate world, where the psy are not supposed to feel and are genetically modified to achieve this, through a protocol called Silence. Wow. This book was really good. It was the antithesis of 'Brave New World' (one of my favorites) in that it was all about the loss of feeling and emotion, of pleasure and love.

The characters are extremely well written and the plot is fast moving and interesting. The sex is relevant to the story and helps to reveal the development of the characters and the relationship that forms. It is unique and highly enjoyable that it should be such a monumental piece of the story which helps propel the story ...more

With the combination of title, cover, and being PNR, I never felt the burning need to pick up this book, even with the hoards of 5 star reviews. But I'm learning to listen to my GR friends who say a series rocks and look beyond the cover to the inside of a book. The world building is absolutely fascinating, the characters are rich and complex, and the writing is superb.

Okay, the book had a slow start, but a great finish! At first I was just reading about bedroom eyes and a real estate deal. Yes, you heard me right. They were going to build really big dog houses. Then it made a much needed left turn into bringing a serial killer to justice. Okay, now you have my interest...much better. I didnt care for this book at first. It was very hard to get into. Once it got rolling it was a little better. I did feel the author went on a little too much with the psy details. We got it, she didnt have to keep repeating herself. But overall for a first book in the series it was ok. I will try the second book. However if it doesnt grab my attention faster than this one did I may not finish it.
