Yum! I liked this one even better than the first one - I feel like the plot is a lot stronger in this one.

I also have to say that I really like that Mercy isn't constantly playing the role of damsel in distress in this series. Honestly, you can't even argue that she's the cause of the problem that tangles up the cast. In the first book, Adam was the target. In the second book, Stefan was the target. And in both books, now, she's saved her guys. Woo! Girl power!

Book 3, here I come!

Re-read March 2017 - It's funny, because when I have some time away from this series, I am somehow able to forget how much I adore it (not that I don't remember it fondly, but I'm not panting for the next book for a whole year or two ... but maybe that's the reason, now that it takes a couple years between books). But I love this series and these characters.

Mercy remains an incredibly refreshing heroine. Without convenient plot devices that get her across the finish line, she reasons her way through a situation and manages to rescue her boys.

And seeing Bran come to the rescue in this one was especially glorious, even though Mercy didn't need him. But what can I say, I love Bran.

Re-read March 2020
Everything I said above rings as true as ever on this latest re-read. But I'm also glorying in the secondary characters. I love Ben's evolution, which really begins in this book. And man, this book made me realize how much I miss ... (doubled-back to put spoiler tags here, for folks that are reading this their first time through)...(view spoiler) ...more

It's been a while since I had finished Moon Called. I wasn't really desperate to read the rest of of the series afterward but I did jump at the chance to grab the series at a great price when I had a chance.
I enjoyed Blood Bound - an interesting plot, creepy vampires and solid world building. Mercy is an appealing character - she is a little rash and impulsive but not stupid. She makes decisions that she knows might not turn out great but does so because they have to be made. I find I am satisf ...more

I'd forgotten how much I liked this series. The story was fast paced and literally kept me on the edge of my seat through the last half of the book. Apparently, I'm a sucker for love triangles (or whatever you call it if there are 3 suitors) because I loved all the scenes with Mercy/Adam, Mercy/Samuel and Mercy/Stefan (even though I know she's so not going to end up with a vampire) but that's not the main pull of this series. I'm glad I have the next three on my shelf at home. :D ...more
