Chess has up'd the ante with this edition of the series. This time, she's sucked into a murder investigation of sorts by Terrible (and, of course, Bump) and a very intense and sensitive debunking assignment by the Church. Her skills as a debunker work to her advantage for the most part - but it's that same skill that puts her into a LOT of serious danger as well.

Chess is a debunker for the church which means she finds out if people really have a ghost or if they are lying for money so when she is handed a case and it turns out to be a hauting in a house by someone famous and rolling in money she can't figure it out. She knows they are faking it but she can't figure out how or why. On top of that her drug dealer calls in a favour which is not going to go well and she has to hide her relationship with a guy ho works for a rival dealer! Her life is complic ...more

Ah Chess just keeps getting in deeper and deeper.
In this book she is walking a fine line by trying to not let Terrible & Bump find out that she is spending a lot of (hm hm)time with Lex. She also has a haunting involving a famous actor and his messed up family. This book had so many twists and turns and a lot of WTH moments, but in a good way. I am looking forward to seeing if Chess will ever change her lifestyle or let up off the drugs.

Chess has some redeeming characteristics, she cares about people, she wants justice and puts herself in the firing line to get it. But I have huge problems with her inability to face her personal demons.

The plot of the book is good and I enjoy the mystery ad the world. Will be reading the next one.

Okay......this series is dangerously close to entering my top 2 favorite series. I'm afraid to since its only 2 books in, but I'm hooked on Kane's world, Chess, and most definitely on Terrible(Still can't stand that name, they should just call him "T") whose also stepping up as a tie for my number 1 fav lead male ;)! Only complaint I have is I still get a bit distracted by a moderate amount of grammatical errors making me reread lines over again, and some of the "Downside Speak" is nerve grating ...more

The Downside Ghosts series has been a very unique series in and of itself. It has its own vocabulary, and gives a fairly in depth look into the world of addiction.
