As the Elemental Assassin series nears it's end, this 10th book wasn't what I expected it to be at all but that wasn't a bad thing, in fact it answered many questions I had about how Gin became the woman she is today.

This book takes part, mostly, in flashback form as Gin receives a specific gift on a specific date that reminds her of a pivotal time in her life. We join her as she regales Owen with the story in full. It was nice to see a young Gin, yes she was a bit less jaded and a bit more car ...more

"Meh" for this one. Or, as my mom would say, "It didn't knock my socks off."

I love Gin (the fictional character, not the drink), I still dislike Owen, Finn and his Astin Martin are fun, and the dwarven sisters Jojo and Sophia are awesome-sauce. I've been a faithful reader for 9 previous books, most of which were fun and exciting and filled with blood feuds, family angst, and elemental powers. Good stuff.
