This starts out with the Lords of the Underworld. They're each cursed with a demon as punishment for killing Pandora. The demons are everyday tormants we sometimes go through such as lies, pain, death, wrath, nightmares, secrets, defeat. These demons control their life. The punishment is horrible if they don't cave into their demons. If the lord is "lies", he'll be in incredible pain if he tells the truth, or if one of the lords is "defeat" he'll go insane if he didn't win, and "pain"... well, h ...more

Ok, so Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series got me hooked on the paranormal romance genre. That being said - I don't expect any other books to come close to those.

But Lords of the Underworld does come kinda close. While I don't enjoy Showalter's style of writing as much as I do Cole's....the books are fascinating....the LOTU universe is deep and well defined....and they are super-quick reads. (I average one about every 24 hours.) I think Showalter is more suited to writing young adult fict ...more

I really liked this series however i have also read J.R.Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood and both these series' have similar story lines, a band a men (brothers or lords) fighting curses and past traumas, each book containing their love story with a female. And then theres the bad guys, Lessers or Hunters both seeking to destroy them however I do love the added Greek Myth into this series which gives it a different slant whereas the BDB is a vampire based book and has there own religion/god so to ...more
