Premetto che avevo già letto il romanzo da adolescente, e ne ero rimasta delusa perché mi aspettavo un horror, mentre Frankenstein ovviamente non lo è, si tratta di un romanzo gotico ma è stato scritto nell'Ottocento e si sente. Rileggendolo ora, speravo di apprezzare lati diversi del romanzo, ma c'era una cosa che non mi ricordavo: come avrei dovuto già capire dal titolo, il romanzo di Mary Shelley si sviluppa intorno alla figura (lamentosissima peraltro) del creato, il dottor Victor Frankenste ...more

Actually, this is just the kind of book I thought I wouldn't really like ... but there was a fascination about the way the story was told that made it hard for me to put down. I found myself a little confused about who was writing the letters at the beginning ... but the story unfolded so I figured everything out. The biggest thing that kept me reading, was the moral dilemma that Frankenstein found himself in when the monster demanded a "wife". Lots of philosophical debate, difficult to wrap one ...more

Read in school. Took a few weeks. Definitely an interesting story- not just a horror but a story about a lot of different, deeper things.
