This was a book club selection for my group of friends. All and all I would say it was good and I enjoyed it. I almost gave it four stars but I just couldn't get over the writing. This book is narrated by a 5 year old boy that was born and has lived in the same room all his life. He has never been outside or even knows that "Outside" exists. The one thing that really bothered me was that he called everything exactly what it was. An example being: I woke up inside Wardrobe, got out and turned on

This book is such a different concept. I really enjoyed it though there were some difficult parts to deal with and I think there are some plot lines that just are not what the characters would do, which made me want to discuss it with someone. It was a book that you can't put down once you start.

It was a very difficult read for me. It was well written, but the subject matter and the authenticity of the 5 year old voice made me very uncomfortable. I can't say I liked it, but I will remember it.

I thought this was a FASCINATING book. As I was reading this book, I could really feel myself slip into the characters world. It was not only an entertaining, at times funny, sad, scary, and hard to put down read, but it also gave an interesting glimpse into how a child develops and makes sense of the world, and highlighted the importance of how our environments influence our development.
